UTS: Repurposing Workstations

The University of Technology in Ultimo recently undertook a project to enhance their student study spaces. As part of a green initiative aimed at minimizing waste, they implemented a strategy to repurpose existing workstations. By repurposing the existing furniture and incorporating PACE power rails, the university successfully minimized its environmental footprint while also enhancing the facilities available to students.

The bench seating area has power conveniently installed at the front of the seating base boards in the form of OE Elsafe PUMA power units. Each unit has been fitted with power and TUF-R HP USB laptop, phone, and tablet charging modules.

Eight additional PEAK above-surface table boxes have been installed in the student study area. These table boxes are designed to offer convenient access to AC power sockets, along with TUF-R HP USB modules for charging laptops, phones, and tablets.

The project has been completed with OE cable management solutions, PRODIGY cable baskets, and Pathfinder umbilicals to bring power from the ceiling to the workstations.

Reversible TUF-R Type A-Port

TUF-R includes the world’s first reversible Type A port to ensure a first-time connection every time. The USB A connector can be inserted both ways, streamlining the end user’s experience and cutting down on wear or damage from incorrect attempts, maximising the working life of the power module.
